Mount Vernon, WA – The Skagit Tourism Bureau is proud to announce the appointment of Kristen Keltz as its new Chief Executive Officer. Keltz, a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industry, will lead the Bureau in promoting Skagit County as a premier travel destination.

Keltz brings a wealth of experience, having begun her career in the hotel industry in 1992. She’s held various leadership roles, including CEO of the Mount Vernon Chamber of Commerce, where she significantly contributed to the promotion of Skagit Valley. Her expertise in community partnerships, workforce development, and government advocacy aligns perfectly with the Bureau's mission.

John Sternlicht, Chair of the Skagit Tourism Bureau Board of Directors and of the Search Committee, expressed his enthusiasm for Keltz's appointment. “We had a great deal of interest in this position with some truly talented and invested candidates, which speaks to the importance of tourism promotion for the Skagit Valley. Among that talent, however, Kristen Keltz rose to the top as someone who has long been immersed directly in tourism promotion and hospitality, has successfully run a relevant nonprofit organization, and knows this area inside and out. Having been involved in the formation of the Tourism Promotion Area, Kristen understands more than anyone what is required to run a successful destination marketing organization representing Skagit County. We look forward to flourishing under her leadership.”

In her new role, Keltz will focus on developing and implementing strategic plans to enhance tourism in Skagit County. Her responsibilities include managing the Bureau's operations, marketing, and advertising efforts, and fostering relationships with stakeholders across the region.

Keltz's appointment comes at a crucial time for the Skagit Tourism Bureau, formed in 2021, as it seeks to elevate its profile and attract more visitors to the area.

“I am thrilled to take on this role and eager to contribute to the growth and success of Skagit County's tourism industry,” said Keltz. “I look forward to working with the Board, our partners, and the community to showcase the unique attractions and experiences that our county offers. Together, we will create unforgettable experiences, foster sustainable tourism, and showcase the uniqueness that makes our valley a year-round destination for travelers around the world."

After a period of research and planning, the organization under Keltz is now poised to invest in traditional destination marketing activities to develop more demand where capacity allows and maximize the economic potential of existing attractors.
