Transportation
Roads
Interstate 5 runs north-south from the Canadian border to Mexico through Skagit County, providing direct trucking links throughout the west coast. State Highway 20 crosses Skagit County from west to east, providing access to Skagit County’s major industrial locations at Skagit Regional Airport and Bayview Business Park, Port of Anacortes, March Point, and the Skagit Industrial Park and manufacturing facilities in Sedro-Woolley. From April through October, Highway 20 offers access to central and eastern Washington State via the North Cascades Highway.
Rail
Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad (BNSF) owns the freight rail network in Skagit County, which travels north-south through Mount Vernon and Burlington between Seattle and Vancouver on BNSF’s Bellingham line; north-south through Sedro-Woolley on BNSF’s Sumas line; and an east-west spur between Burlington to March Point in Anacortes.
Amtrak offers passenger service on its Cascades line with a stop at Skagit Station in Mount Vernon.
Ferry Service
Anacortes is the terminus for the Washington State Ferries route serving the San Juan Islands (San Juan, Orcas, Lopez, and Shaw Islands) and Sidney, British Columbia (Victoria, Canada).
Transit
Skagit Transit is the public transit authority serving Skagit County. In addition to local service, it offers express commuter bus service to transit centers in Bellingham and Everett (where direct commuter rail and bus service to Seattle is available).
Airports
Skagit Regional Airport: Operated by the Port of Skagit, Skagit Regional Airport is an FAA general aviation facility with two paved runways (5477’ and 3000’) serving a variety of business, commercial, and recreational users.
Anacortes Airport: Operated by the Port of Anacortes, Anacortes Airport features a 3000’ runway and is ideally suited for corporate and private aircraft. San Juan Airlines offers daily commercial flights to the San Juan Islands.
Concrete Airport (Mears Field): Operated by the Town of Concrete located along the North Cascades Highway, Mears Field is a public airfield with a 2580’ paved runway.

Skagit County is located near four international airports offering extensive worldwide commercial and cargo service:
Bellingham International Airport: 30 miles
Seattle-Tacoma International Airport: 75 miles
Vancouver International Airport: 75 miles
Victoria International Airport: 62 miles (via Anacortes-Sidney Ferry)
Seaports
The Port of Anacortes, a natural deep-water seaport, hosts major shipbuilding and repair facilities, with capabilities for dry bulk cargo exports, vessel moorage, industrial projects, and a spacious marina.
Skagit County is conveniently located near additional deep-water port facilities, including the Port of Bellingham, Port of Everett, Port of Seattle, and Port of Tacoma; and Port Metro Vancouver and Greater Victoria Harbour Authority in Canada.
