Start your leadership journey today and join a network of over 550 who have gone through the program, including elected officials, business owners at all levels, executives and community members who are committed to making a difference in Skagit County.
Each year, up to 35 current and emerging leaders from throughout the county are selected to participate in Leadership Skagit’s intensive 9-month community leadership training program. Class begins in September 2022, culminating with graduation June 2023.

A program of EDASC in collaboration with Skagit Valley College, Leadership Skagit has been developing informed, connected and committed community members since 2004. The nine-month curriculum is designed to help current and emerging leaders acquire a broad understanding of the complex issues facing Skagit County.

Leadership Skagit partnership between EDASC, SVC continues

Skagit Valley College (SVC) and EDASC are pleased to announce their continued partnership in Leadership Skagit, a program developing a network of business and community leaders.
SVC President Tom Keegan and EDASC CEO John Sternlicht in January signed a new cooperative agreement formalizing their continued commitment to providing vibrant, relevant, and innovative programming to continue to serve the community’s leadership needs.
Under the new agreement, SVC now provides a partial faculty position to update and manage the curriculum. EDASC will continue to operate the program.

EDASC hires Leadership Skagit Program Manager

MOUNT VERNON – The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County (EDASC) has hired Mary Heffernan Trester as its Leadership Skagit Program Manager effective January 1, succeeding founding director Kathryn Bennett at the helm of Skagit County’s premier leadership training program. Leadership Skagit is a program of EDASC, in partnership with Skagit Valley College.
Trester, an Anacortes resident, will work collaboratively with Curriculum Manager Dr. Laura Flores Cailloux to ensure the continued success and growth of Leadership Skagit. She’ll lead program fundraising efforts, manage volunteers and recruit program participants.
