The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County is welcoming back noted economist Christopher Thornberg, Ph.D., as the keynote speaker at its annual Economic Forecast Night dinner in February.

Thornberg is founder of Los Angeles-based Beacon Economics LLC, who became nationally known for forecasting the subprime mortgage market crash that began in 2007 and the economic recession that followed. During the Covid-19 pandemic, he stood in opposition to the many who predicted an economic depression, which never materialized.
Thornberg appeared at the 2023 Economic Forecast Night and is back by popular demand. In his address, he will look at what the new administration will mean for the national economy as well as drill down on state and local issues of importance, including housing supply and factors affecting the workforce.
Economic Forecast Night is EDASC’s biggest event of the year, bringing business and civic leaders together for networking, EDASC’s 2024 year in review by CEO John Sternlicht and Thornberg’s presentation. The event takes place 5-8:30 p.m. on Feb. 20 at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge. Individual tickets are $125 and can be purchased here.
