Jonathan Carpenter Eells is the newly hired RAIN Venture Catalyst. RAIN, the Regional Accelerator & Investor Network, and EDASC have partnered to bring the Venture Catalyst position to Skagit County, thanks in part to American Rescue Plan Act funding provided by the Skagit County commissioners.

In his role as the Venture Catalyst Carpenter Eells will connect entrepreneurs with the people, programs and capital to help nurture their businesses, fostering a rich “entrepreneurial ecosystem” that benefits entire communities and regions. His first major project will be to help launch and administer programs related to grant funding for the Elevating & Investing in Underserved Small Businesses in Rural Island County + Skagit County project.

Carpenter Eells co-owns the retail gift shop elSage Designs in downtown Mount Vernon with his wife. In his new role, Carpenter Eells says his experience as an entrepreneur will allow him to “empathize, connect, and understand the entrepreneurial community.” Prior to being an entrepreneur, he taught middle school in the Skagit Valley for eight years.

“I am excited to support Skagit entrepreneurs through the partnership of RAIN and EDASC,” Carpenter Eells said.
