Finding qualified candidates is a top challenge for 46% of U.S. companies, according to a recent Express Employment Professionals-Harris Poll survey. EDASC’s own survey data backs up that trend for Skagit County, where nearly 60% of employers surveyed in 2025 stated hiring and retaining employees is a top challenge.

That is why EDASC and WorkSource are long-time partners in bringing the NW Regional Job Fair to the community.

This spring’s Northwest Regional Job Fair is 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., April 21, at WorkSource Skagit in Mount Vernon. The first half-hour is exclusively for military veterans seeking employment. There is no cost for employers or job seekers to participate.

Employers looking to expand their workforce have found the job fair to be a key element in their recruiting efforts. Silfab Solar, Inc., is one company that has found value in participating.

“EDASC’s job fairs have proven to be invaluable for Silfab Solar, offering an engaging platform to connect with a diverse pool of talent,” Sam Calkins, HR Manager at Silfab Solar, said. “Through hiring events like these, we've been able to successfully recruit top talent and strengthen our workforce, ultimately contributing to our continued growth and success.”

Employers find they not only benefit from the 100+ job seekers who attend the events but also appreciate the opportunity to network with other employers while there. In an exit survey, one company representative said, “Loved it. Such a good event to meet job seekers as well as grow relationships with other companies in the community.”

Employers from Skagit, Island and Whatcom counties are invited to participate and employers are asked to commit to staffing the event for the time allotted.

To register as an exhibitor, employers in Skagit County can contact Hilary Parker, hilary@skagit.org.  Employers in Island and Whatcom counties can contact Martin Symonds, martin.symonds@esd.wa.gov. Participation is limited to 30 employers.
