The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County is hosting its annual Economic Forecast Night on Feb. 25. Economic Forecast Night is EDASC’s biggest event of the year, bringing more than 300 business and civic leaders together for networking and to hear from regional and national speakers. The evening is presented by Banner Bank.
This year’s featured speaker is Don Rissmiller, a founding partner and chief economist of New York-based Strategas, the market strategy arm of financial services firm Baird. Rissmiller directs Strategas’ macroeconomic research as well as overseeing its thematic research and high-frequency econometric forecasting. He often appears in the financial press and travels nationwide speaking on markets and economic topics, demystifying things like the inverted yield curve and its impact on financial markets. Before founding Strategas, Rissmiller was an economist and managing director at International Strategy & Investment, after having worked at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.
Along with Rissmiller’s presentation, Washington state’s Chief Labor Economist Anneliese Vance-Sherman will provide a snapshot of Skagit County’s economy, and EDASC CEO John Sternlicht will present EDASC’s year in review.
The event takes place 5-8:30 p.m. on Feb. 25 at the Swinomish Casino & Lodge. Individual tickets are $125 and sponsorship opportunities are available. As always, EDASC Signature Investors receive 10 complimentary tickets. Registration deadline is Feb. 11.
