How are you using AI?

AI is likely shaping your workday, and the limits of what it can do continue to expand.
“AI is rapidly changing,” Allixo’s Sam Riley said during the July “How to use AI in Your Workday” webinar. Riley is a member of the EDASC Board of Directors.
Riley noted that Large Language Models, such as ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini, continue to add features and are becoming more intelligent for a business or organization over time.
Users can get help developing a policy document, designing an event flyer or creating a PowerPoint presentation. And that’s just a handful of examples.
However, Riley cautions users to be careful when putting information into an AI platform. If it isn’t a closed system your information becomes part of the greater LLM and your data, writing, art or other materials can be used to train the LLM.
If that data happens to be proprietary, you have essentially shared it with the world, and you have no way of knowing where it will appear.
That’s why Riley suggests that paying for a closed system may be the right choice for businesses that want to harness the computing power of AI.
Riley also strongly encourages all businesses to have workplace AI use policy.
“At a minimum, an organization's AI acceptable use policy should cover which AI models are approved for use and then define when each of the organization's data types should be or not be used with those models,” Riley said.
