Juan Morales has joined the staff of the Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County (EDASC) as its equitable economic development manager.

Morales is a former member of the Mount Vernon City Council and previously worked as the programs coordinator for the Northwest Agriculture Business Center. At EDASC, he primarily will work with aspiring entrepreneurs and established small businesses, with a particular focus on underserved communities throughout the county.

“I have known Juan for several years since he earned his degree from Skagit Valley College, and throughout his service with NABC and as a city council member,” EDASC CEO John Sternlicht said. “Juan’s skills, experience and temperament make him absolutely perfect for the work EDASC does. He is a true servant leader.”

“As part of the EDASC team, I am looking forward to the collaboration, partnerships, and learning ahead,” Morales said. “I will dedicate my skills and experience to the public good, the people of Skagit County, and its businesses.”

Morales was born and raised in Mount Vernon, attending Mount Vernon High School and Skagit Valley College, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in management. He is bilingual in English and Spanish.
