The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County (EDASC) has just begun the search for two new essential team members who will shape important aspects of the region’s economic development program: a Communications/Community Engagement Specialist and a Coordinator of Business Development and Expansion.

Communications/Community Engagement Specialist

Our entrepreneurial team is looking for a doer, a technical expert who is a self-starter and an engaging people-person.  You are good at relationship building, an experienced Communications/Community Engagement Specialist with a diverse skill set, including a record of accomplishment in dealing with the public and sales, a secure knowledge of digital marketing and the social media landscape with a proficient understanding of analytics and graphics.  You will need to be able to use analytics to track success and inform future strategies as well as to write professional content and create compelling visuals.  The best candidate will intuitively understand how to interact positively with our team and how to establish productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  You will need to be energized by your job, a passionate, self-motivated pacesetter as well as a team player.  If you are resilient, creative, curious, empathic, dedicated to overcoming obstacles and persevering, relish change, thrive on ambiguity and are able to push yourself beyond your comfort zone to seek new challenges, this is the job for you.

Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years’ experience and a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or a related field.

A proven background and experience in this arena and exceptional people skills could possibly replace the expectation of formal, academic training.

Coordinator of Business Development & Expansion

The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County is seeking a Coordinator of Business Development and Expansion, a strategist with the ability to develop and implement effective economic development programs with state and local/regional groups, including synchronizing workforce development and other activities among businesses and relevant organizations. 

The ideal candidate will have at least a bachelor’s degree in a business related discipline appropriate to the position and job related experience.  In addition, the successful candidate must exhibit excellent presentation, analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills as well as high-level oral and written communication competencies.  The right person will be an economic development practitioner with a thorough knowledge of economic development processes and practices, including site selection and business retention and expansion.  In addition, the candidate will need a good knowledge of federal, state and local economic and community development programs.

Other salient skills include the ability to deal effectively with stakeholders and clients; cultivate, recognize and develop leads among target sectors through research, local/global business connections, and trade groups, and maintain an accurate client management database.  A further competency would include comfort with public speaking and projection of a consistent, genuine, high-quality, can-do professional image and messaging aimed at broader audiences, promoting EDASC and Skagit County through media (press releases, social media, website, and advertising both print and electronic).  Above all, we are looking for a people-person with a confirmed record of accomplishment in developing and maintaining cooperative, professional relationships with other employees, management, business owners, municipal leaders and outside organizations.  The ability to establish sincere rapport, surmount obstacles, and put people at ease is essential.

Bachelor’s degree required. A Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) and/or a graduate degree preferred. 

Salary depends on level of education, range and depth of related experience.
