Friday, March 27, 2020
EDASC on March 25 began hosting a recurring weekly video conference with U.S. Representatives Rick Larsen and Suzan DelBene, and leaders from regional economic development agencies and chambers of commerce.
The one-hour conference, held Wednesdays, provides the opportunity for these regional organization leaders to hear congressional updates while relaying on-the-ground information.
In attendance were those in the five-county region of Skagit, Whatcom, Island, San Juan, and Snohomish.
The meetings also provide the chance for these chamber and economic development leaders to share news, tips and best practices.
This virtual meeting is one of many strategies for EDASC to provide the Skagit County community with the latest news and resources as they become available, EDASC CEO John Sternlicht said.
“It’s vital that we offer well coordinated support to our community, both businesses and indiviudals in the face of this unpredcedented crisis,” Sternlicht said. “Representatives DelBene and Larsen are working diligently to relay our needs and have them addressed by federal action.”
EDASC’s No. 1 priority for the foreseeable future will be helping the Skagit County business community navigate this public health and economic crisis. Its COVID-19 Updates page will continue to be updated, along with its newly-released EDASC COVID-19 Resources Guide for Businesses & Workers.
Staff also continue providing EDASC’s usual array of business support services, including small-business advising, business retention and expansion support, leadership training and using technology to comply with social distancing measures.
