2020 Census offers important chance for your voice to be heard
Tuesday, March 10, 2020
The U.S. is set to conduct its 2020 Census, and next week Washington residents will receive mail with instructions to complete the online survey.
The importance of the Census, conducted every 10 years, cannot be overstated. It is used to determine how federal funding is distributed among a huge proportion of programs.
Invitations will be mailed to households March 12 to respond online to the 2020 U.S. Census. In addition to the impact on federal funding, census results also determine legislative representation in Olympia and Washington D.C.
For these reasons, EDASC encourages everyone in Skagit County to complete the Census.
Although many may feel nervous or uncomfortable about supplying information to the government, it is important to remember that long-standing laws are in place to prevent the misuse of data. Census data is never shared with other federal, state or local agencies.
The Census offers a unique opportunity to have your voice heard and counted, so make sure you plan to complete the Census in 2020.
