MOUNT VERNON – The Economic Development Alliance of Skagit County (EDASC) has hired Aaron Weinberg as its Communications & Community Engagement Specialist. Weinberg joins EDASC with over seven years of combined nonprofit and journalism experience in Skagit and Whatcom counties.
As a former business reporter for the Skagit Valley Herald, Weinberg is deeply familiar with the county's economic landscape.
“I’m thrilled to join an organization I’ve always admired,” Weinberg said. “I’m eager to share stories not only about EDASC’s incredible range of projects and programs, but also about the innovative businesses that call Skagit County home.”
Weinberg earned his B.A. in journalism from Western Washington University. After freelancing for several years, he joined the Skagit Valley Herald. There, he worked as a copy editor and sports reporter before transitioning to business reporter in 2015. In that role, he enjoyed covering business topics in the county, from value-added agriculture to health care.
Most recently, Weinberg worked as the development director for a small Bellingham-based health care nonprofit where he helped coordinate events and oversaw communications, marketing strategies and fund development.
EDASC CEO John Sternlicht said he is excited to have Weinberg join the team and help guide the organization’s communications and community relations strategies.
“The EDASC team is delighted Aaron has joined us,” Sternlicht said. “He brings a unique combination of impactful writing, web design, investor development and familiarity with the Skagit County economy that will enhance all our programs and services.”
